Bonifay Bags High Point Pro Wakeboard Tour Win
Parks Bonifay soars to Pro Men's victory

In the Sea-Doo SliderX event, Gerry Nunn took a spectacular fall while attempting a backside slide on the top rail.
HIGH POINT, N.C. — Tapping into his complete high-flying repertoire of tricks, Parks Bonifay took first place in the Pro Men's division at the July 1 Highpoint Pro Wakeboard Tour competition in Festival Park. The event was the fifth stop on 2001 tour.
Scoring 75.44 in the finals, Bonifay narrowly beat second-place finisher Darin Shapiro who scored 74.67. Shaun Murray took third place.
In the Pro Women's Finals, Emily Copeland triumphed. Copeland combined tricks off floating obstacles with superb aerials. Tara Hamilton finished second and Marie Botved-Studd of Denmark took third.

Daniel Watkins earned first place in the Sea-Doo SliderX event with a transfer from the tabletop to the slide rail and a 360-degree spin.
The top six riders from the Saturday, June 30 heat rounds qualified for a shot at $1000 for the best trick n the Sea-Do SlideX event. Each competitor was pulled by the special Pro Wakeboard tour edition Sea-Doo GTI? watercraft and took two runs at the Sea-Doo/180 Energy Drink Fun Box tabletop slider. Australian Daniel Watkins took first place with a transfer from the tabletop to the slide rail and a 360-degree spin. Finishing second in the event, Ryan Wynne earned $500.
Though he didn't win anything for his effort in the Sea-Doo SliderX event, Gerry Nunn attempted a wild backside slide on the top rail. During the trick, Nunn lost his balance and slid down the bottom part of the tabletop on his helmet. Nunn was uninjured and, after surfacing, received thunderous applause from the crowd.
The High Point Pro Wakeboard Tour event will air on ESPN August 8 at 5:30 p.m. (EST) and August 14 10:30 p.m. (PST).
